Dmc is sluggish and the complete lack of enemy variety (especially in 5) makes the combat just wasted, dmc has good combat but no enemy nor boss in the game requires any of that skill to be used you really can button mash your way through all the games with ease

Also each character in this game has 4 seperate skill trees fille dsith abilities per character, so while they may not have a huge combo string potential they have more variety than dante and thier movement is way better

The worst part of dmc's combat is that the characters move around like tanks, games like kingdom hearts, Nier automata, FF7 remake, bayonetta etc really nail character movement and while those characters may not have dantes combos they move around way more fluidly allowing for more satisfying play
