This has actually been a very hot topic amongst software developers. In the most popular version control system, your "main version" is called the master branch. Like, those systems work like trees. You have one main branch (traditionally called trunk) and then branch off of that into your own branch to develop a feature and then this gets merged back into the master branch.

There was a lot of complaining about this and some platforms renamed the master branch to main or whatever. There's also been a push for moving away from master <-> slave to... something else. I've seen a couple of alternatives usually followed by the documentation saying "x is master, y is slave".

It's just another low hanging fruit they're trying to fix to please the masses. Like, they sell a software product. They're most certainly aware that this topic has been a point of discussion in the recent past. It fits perfectly with the "turning women into fruits"

I still haven't quite figured out how much of a problem that actually is. There's a bunch of inequality to be addressed in the US regarding high paying jobs (elsewhere too but this is of course something that came out of silicon valley and the history of slavery in the US makes those terms controversial in the first place. That makes this discussion less useful in places like Germany. We just killed everybody we considered subhuman and the master branch isn't called Sturmführer branch or whatever...).

Edit ACTUALLY maybe it's not about "Master" specifically and my own bubble misled me here. "Master Baiter" sounds like a dude who's good at catfishing women. Maybe that's why they're doing and and the name in it's entirety was considered problematic. Still nonsense. This almost feels like some devs were like "hehe let's call that guy Master Baiter because he's getting all the bitches" and now they're backtracking. People who just see the name without that context might not even get the joke.
