Microsoft has acquired Havok, the leading provider of physics - "... Part of this innovation will include building the most complete cloud service, which we’ve just started to show through games like Crackdown 3."

I own both now, and have been playing the Xbox more as of late. But as a whole, I think that the reality is that there's two different markets, people who prefer mostly online games. And people who prefer games more based around story.

Xbox, as a brand, is built up around Sports, shooters, and racing. There aren't a ton of games, that are narrative driven inside of the library of games, they bring to the table year after year. In fact one of the few, story driven titles, was Fable. And now it's being turned into a dungeon crawler kind of game.

This isn't a bad thing. I love my Xbox, and think it's great. At this moment I favor it. However, the Sony brand, as a whole, is ultimately built of more narrative driven games. Games that are more focused on the core story, and multi-player is added in as something to enhance the game.

Now, you're correct. The PS4 lineup, in terms of exclusives, is baron for the rest of the year. But, speaking historically, it's very likely you'll see a wider variety of games on the PS4, with a wider range of audiences. From shooters, to JRPG's, where as the Xbox is going to be more focused on Shooters, with the occasional action adventure game, and a strong focus on trying to build up the indie market (which is smart as hell.)

I am, however, hopeful that with everything Phil's been saying, about not focusing as heavily on buying third party content, and being more about developing first party experiences this changes. I think Microsoft has nothing but upside, and I own an Xbox because I like what they currently offer. If we can get back to the diversity the original Xbox had, and the start of the 360 had, I think the One can really do some amazing things for gaming. But that's my two cents.
