Military?

That’s day 1. Day 2 is live fire. When I was in we had the precursor to ISMT. Almost every shipboard rate (which is most of the Navy) requires it. M9, M16, OC and Baton qualifications are needed for the top side rove qualification which is one of your first qualifications that almost everyone gets. The Navy in general puts a heavier emphasis on cross training which is where things like ESWS come from. The Navy doesn’t base weapon qualification on rates and billets they based it on watch qualification. If you are expected to stand a certain watch then you are required to get certain weapon qualifications and the most security watches (top side rove, OOD, and POOW) require M9, M16, OC, and baton.

The amount of people in the Navy who go a career without touching a handgun, rifle and shotgun is about equal to those in the Army and Marines who actually get to touch a handgun.
