Murderabilia: Serial Killers and Cult Leaders

The Manson Family Sings The Songs of Charles Manson

Pressed on solid white. Features unreleased (at the time of 1986) 1970 recordings of Manson's songs performed by Steve Grogan as lead singer, along with Red, Blue, Gypsy, Brenda, Ouisch and Capistrano. The full album is available on youtube. It's an interesting listen. A couple songs are actually "singalongable", which I guess is good for a cult. Etched into run-out grooves: A - "YGGDRASSIL FOR NINE DAYS" B - "SCORPIAN BACKWARDS" ...whatever that means.

Charles Manson - LIE: The Love and Terror Cult

Arguably his most "famous" and admittedly his best record, LIE: The Love and Terror Cult is a masterpiece of psych-folk with a rich history surrounding it. You can really see in this record that he was a talented musician outside of his more devious endeavors. Outside of the context of the atrocious acts committed under his philosophy and command, this record is a folk gem. Sometimes you even forget you're singing a Charles Manson song. Sometimes.

The pressing I have is the 1987 Awareness Records pressing on black.

"THIS LP REPRESENT RECORDINGS MADE BY CHARLES MANSON PRIOR TO THE TATE-LABIANCA MURDERS. THERE WAS SOME SPECULATION AT THE TIME, THAT A RECORD PRODUCER WHO HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED THE TATE HOME AND HAD EARLIER REJECTED MANSON'S RECORDINGS, WAS THE INTENDED TARGET. THIS THEORY WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DISPROVEN HOWEVER, EVERY PRODUCER MANSON HAD APPROACHED WITH HIS RECORDINGS ULTIMATELY RECEIVED DEATH THREATS AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER, AND IT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY SHOWN THAT MANSON HAD TARGETED FOR ASSASSINATION A NUMBER OF FAMOUS RECORDING ARTISTS WHOSE ONLY CRIME WAS THEIR SUCCESS." Along with an interview and some of his own writing.

Charles Manson - Air

Fourth pressing of Charles Manson's "Air" on crystal clear. As you can see, there are some black swirls and flecks in it, but it plays great. Air is the first in his ATWA series released on Magic Bullet Records. The whole album is a kind of lo-fi free-improvisation folk. If you've heard his prison recordings before, you'll know what I'm talking about. Matrix / Runout (Side A): MBL138-1-A Crime is anything that's done against your survival. Matrix / Runout (Side B): MBL138-1-B RE-1 Any sin against your life is a crime.

Charles Manson - Trees

First pressing of the second in the ATWA series - "Trees". More of his lo-fi pseudo-improvised prison-cell folk. Pressed on marbled maroon.

Etchings: SIDE A - Whatever you destroy, destroys you.

SIDE B - What you create, you make up for yourself.
