My [21F] best friend [22M] is legitimately angry with me for not waking him up

As someone who has suffered from depression, fatigue, and disordered sleep for years, I've found myself in the unfortunate position of being late or missing plans due to oversleeping many times. Even though it's due to medical issues I often can't control, I feel terrible when it happens.

The only appropriate response here would have been for him to apologize for his mistake and thank you for trying to wake him up by texting him and calling him five times! You did more than your due diligence, and based on your response you seem like an understanding and flexible person.

He easily could have offered to take you out for dinner or a drink instead, or to reschedule. Ultimately, being "right" and taking his frustration out on you were more important than spending time with you and making up for a mistake that was entirely his own. It sounds to me like he didn't deserve you as a girlfriend and doesn't deserve you as a friend either. Move on, and nurture relationships with people who appreciate you and treat you fairly.
