My (35/M) wife (35/F) of sixteen years keeps making important parenting decisions on her own involving our daughter (16/F) and doing really strange things to get back at her.

I’ve talked to my wife about the smaller things like when our daughter should be allowed to stay and date all of that, and that’s when she throws the, “I carried her for nine months,” excuse in my face.

As for cutting holes in clothes, I stopped her and told her that I won’t put up with that in our house, and that if she does it again, or anything even remotely like it, I’ll remove our daughter, and myself, from the situation. And I will. Obviously I don’t want it to get to that point. She seemed shocked and apologetic when I caught her, and she agreed that it was wrong but she “just doesn’t know” how to get our daughter to listen to her anymore. Either she’s keeping something from me or she’s looking for excuses to support her bad behaviour.
