My daughter has a project at her private school. The negatives of living in rural Texas.

Two-fold here:

I'd like to formally declare into the reddit void that I was right that one time I brought up Christian schools doing this with dinosaurs. So ha. Anyway.

People in the comments are curious about why you'd send your kid to this kind of school and I have anecdotes to share. Tl;dr: because class and race.

So I grew up in a somewhat ghetto-ish area (territory took a back seat to drugs and sex from what I can remember), and my father made enough to live there, but be picky about school for my sister and I. He wasn't Christian in any way, but was very...let's say "white culture" and my mother was like a neo-pagan rosicrucian southern voodoo type; between the two, the decision to put us in Christian school was made in spite of these factors.

Public school is terrible; at least in a ghetto area. The education level is completely different at a private school that has a huge amount more funding than a public school; so there's investment in "higher education" (yes I was frequently given "become [x profession that'll make us a bunch of money]").

Private school is white; or at least more than public school in a ghetto area. I don't think there's much more to say there that hasn't already been said, but to soapbox a bit, these are literal children that are being deprived of an education that's been put on a pedestal for a profit and class structure.

There are reasons other than Christian to choose a private Christian school.
