My [F 19] boyfriends [19 M] parents are racist. I don't know what to do

My parents are against interracial dating. They treat my fiancé’s skin like it’s a character flaw. Once when we were visiting them, my brother-in-law came to the door. My mother let him know my fiancé was inside and asked my brother-in-law if that was alright... as if my fiancé had any less of a right to be there, as if it was perfectly normal to be offended merely by my fiancé’s presence. Then they actually made us leave bc my grandmother was on her way and she refused to be in the same building as my fiancé simply because he’s black.

It’s very possible that’s how this man’s parents are going to treat you. That’s how they’ll look at you. I haven’t visited my parents since that day and we’ve barely talked. Is this guy willing to do that for you? Is he willing to choose you over family? If he doesn’t think he is willing, even now in the early stages, then he ain’t worth it. And the fact that he seems to be hiding you makes it seem as though he wouldn’t be willing to choose you.
