My HOA wants to consider me as a contractor.

I'm a fighter ;)

Good! So am I.

That's why they don't like me in the first place, I've questioned their authority too many times. At the board meeting where I ran for the board they tried to get other people to run against me but they were not successful, it was pretty pathetic.

I was approached by both the current President (who just left my unit because we were taking about your issue (tangentially) and one of our owners seems to have moved out and failed to pay their monthly assessment so I had to impose a late fee) and the current (long serving) Secretary. Little did they know what they were in for. I am constantly battling the Secretary on every single fucking thing... she's so fucking stupid and simply believes that because she's been the Sec for nearly 10 years that she knows what the fuck she is doing.

The one other person that wanted to become the Treasurer I've kept in the loop on most issues that have arisen, simply because she's a real estate investor (same as I am) and owns over 40 rentals.

I also think that the association manager is pissed at me because I changed the minds of enough members to stop a $27K project. And, I'm pretty sure that he was going to get a nice kick back. Of-course, I have no way to prove and I'm not even sure it's illegal. But, the timing surely goes well with him getting annoyed by me.

Ya... kind of have something similar going on. We need to replace our roofs and the Sec brought in the lowest bid from the guy that sold her her current house (she rents out her unit here) and basically forced this bid down everyone's throat.

Our President is kind of a push over, but not completely. He'll disagree with me too, so maybe he's not a push over.

That guy always knows good referrals, he even tried to refer me to a contractor in that dispute...

Well, I know some contractors too. What does the President do for a living? Or did for a living?

And does your HOA self manage or have a management company? It sounds like self management.
