My mom only wants me to date white men, but I mostly like Asian guys. Oops.

From what I understand, Asian men and women alike show interest in white people at high percentages. Among all other races, it's only Asian and White that show positive responses. The strong interest in white women is still very present, is what I'm trying to say.

But I mean, all cultures praise status. What I mean by praising whiteness is that if you look at the Asian beauty market, there is a huge push for skin lightening, for men and women alike. Men AND women get plastic surgery to "fix" features they find ugly, like flatter noses and monolids. Asian women just feel more pressure to look more a certain way (I think women in general do but...that's a little off topic), but this usually includes more European features with the high nose bridge, double lid, etc. I've heard a preference for this expressed by VERY many asian men. So, I really don't think it's just women who are showing self-hatred in these aspects. Being exposed to Asian ideals of beauty, I can see where there's a push to be lighter skinned, bigger-eyed, for men and women alike. Also, Asians have started to show interest in the "glamorous figures" of western women, which has lead to an increase in breast implants in Asian women. So, yes, I do see Asian men doing it to women, just how women seem to do it to the men. I really don't think it's just the women. Asian cultures in general are showing more and more acceptance to white foreigners. I've also recently learned that when it comes to being a foreigner teaching English country, if you are white male or female, you have a better chance of being hired just for that. Asian cultures tend to covet whiteness in a lot of ways. My siblings and I are even often told that if we were to go to the Philippines and attempt to enter the entertainment business over there, it wouldn't be hard because we are half white and speak perfect english.

I see too many examples of Asian cultures holding white and western as an ideal for me to completely pass it off as unimportant in this issue.

I think blaming this self-hatred problem solely on Asian women crosses some lines, when there's plenty of responsibility that can be held by Asian men or Asian culture as a whole.
