my new neighbors are creeping me out

Good old Naperville, I grew up there before the gentrification and McMansions took over everything. Even while I lived there, N'Ville had an empty, soulless, Stepford quality that sometimes lead to people getting themselves into trouble just to fill the black hole of their beings (the well-publicized murders, HS kids committing arson for kicks). It's like a bubble of comfort that pumps in drugs and liquid food so people never leave, even as they slowly turn into plastic Happy Meal townspeople whose hearts and minds have withered away due to too much FOX News (regardless of your political affiliation, FOX News is not objective journalism) and botox. The Johnsons may just seem weird because they have been fully assimilated into the suBORGan regime. I am not even joking about this. They might be punking you. Jody might have undisclosed mental issues. It might also be Rosemary's Baby in the suburbs.

I second all the info about getting a dog and a camera. Keep the cell on you to document the weird going ons (e.g. get a vid of them opening the door and staring when you walk by).

Number One Rule for Surviving In a Horror Movie: Don't go into the forest alone without a chainsaw. Talk to other neighbors you trust. Share findings with husband and friends. Call po-po if you hear strange noises and feel ill-at-ease. You might consider asking a holy person of any faith to come and take a look if you suspect something demonic (a Buddhist monk in N'Ville helped my cousin out when she had some funky stuff going on and there is a strong Catholic community in the burbs). Some stuff just defies explanation.

Possibly consider relocating to a surrounding city (can you tell I'm biased?). Congrats on the baby. Hope you update us!
