Why is my smart meter showing I’ve used £3 before anything has even been switched on?

You wouldn't know to deal with the issue without the monitoring

You could check your bill at the end of the month/quarter.

Massive unexpected debt is also not good for wellbeing.

Agreed, but rather than stressing every day, there is nothing stopping anybody from calling their energy supplier upon receipt of a bill to address any issues or concerns.

For some people this is the difference between having money in the bank and not.

I'm well aware and am one of those people. I'm not going to be monitoring my usage constantly though. I check my bill at the end of the month, every month. If there is ever an issue I shall contact my energy provider and address it.

All stress should be minimised but life has some stress and having an extra £100 in the bank is much better for somes wellbeing than the effect of not looking at a smart meter.

Yes stress should be minimised, and having an extra £100 in the bank is great. But you don't need to be a slave to your energy monitor to achieve this, you can choose to simply address your bills as you receive them.

You also can't say don't look at your meter and also say you haven't suggested not fixing the issue - as in this case one is dependent on the other.

That's not the case though, as you can check your bills for the information you need on a monthly/quarterly basis, as and when you get them.

People can do as they please, but it is true that worrying daily about your energy usage is not going to help anything let alone your well being. Each to their own.
