Do be honest I kind of know how your son feels. My parents stole 60,000 each from my brother, myself and my sister. This was money willed to us by my grandma when she died. They used the excuse that they paid for our college. My brother and sister ended up being mad but getting over it. Circumstance in the past required that I paid for my own college. My mother always disliked me because I reminded her of her very abusive father. So they made me pay for my own to “build character.” My parents make a lot so I was forced to take student loans with 8%+ interest. You can imagine how 60,000 would make my life much easier. When that happened it felt like my parents truly didn’t give a fuck about me. My parents were already abusive growing up but that sealed the deal. I graduated college in May and haven’t talked to my parents since. Shit hurts man.
