I had an interesting experience at Naples 15 once.
I was dragged there once to celebrate someone's birthday. I didn't want to go. I was having a really bad day, and didn't want to interact with anyone. I just wanted to go home, curl up in bed, and read until I fell asleep.
But I grudgingly went along.
When I got there, the menu just pissed me off. Fancy, high-end food that appeared to be obscenely overpriced.
Nothing looked good to me, and I wasn't in any mood to pay $45 for a plate of pasta. I was feeling crappier and more depressed by the moment.
As we were waiting at the bar for a table to open up, the bartender asked me if I wanted an appetizer while we were waiting. I mumbled something about wishing I could just get a basic burger.
He made it happen. Despite not being on the menu, he did whatever he had to do, and I received an absolutely delicious burger that totally hit the spot.
I don't know...maybe the burger was just mediocre. But to me, on that night, it was amazing. It was the best part of a really crappy day, and it made my night.
