Personally, in my first relationship, my whole life turned upside down man. I was keeping up with everything else going on but obviously if I wasn't borderline obsessed with my girlfriend, I would do better in other aspects of my life. It definitely had an impact on me, my academic performance, my daily activities, etc.

When it's all new to you, shit's crazy. Like the euphoric feeling of being in love for the first time, spending time with the other person, talking to them all day, thinking about them all day - it was kind of hard to focus on other things. My 16 year old brain was going crazy with dopamine lmao. I basically became addicted to her for a short period.

Soooo, assuming everyone's first love is a similar experience to mine (probably not the case), the answer to your question is, it's probably not a good idea if you wanna focus on school and your hobbies. BUT, if you find a like-minded individual who understands that you are a busy dude and that your commitments come first, AND you have the maturity and discipline to not let yourself get lost in the relationship, then hell yeah it can work.
