I used to live in a neighborhood just down the way from the local JW Kingdom Hall. They were wildly persistent, even when I explained I was an atheist, but also...weirdly polite about it? I worked nights, and so the second time they encountered me in my pajamas at two in the afternoon or whatever it was, they basically asked if they were waking me up, and I said yeah.

After that, they never rang my bell again! But on a regular basis, they would tape a copy of Watchtower to my door knob, and they would have annotated it! Handwritten comments and hilighter! Sure, the things just went into the recycling bin, but I had to appreciate the fact that they apparently kept notes and let me sleep.
