New Zealand Athlete in Rio kidnapped by men in police uniform and forced to withdraw money from ATMs

By saying that you're being just as bad as the people you're complaining about. Yes, there are some extreme pro gun people that would be happy with assault rifles being given out on street corners. Most are a lot more reasonable, and some would even be happy with some reasonable restrictions put in place. And that is the key word: reasonable. A lot of gun restrictions that have been put in place recently have been nothing but alarmisim from politicians that know nothing about guns trying to make themselves look better to their voters, and seem to specifically target guns that are used in a fraction of crimes committed (might be surprising, but assault weapons are rarely used in crime - pistols are used far more often).

Also something that should be noted is that it is likely factors (eg mental health services, education, poverty) other than the availability of guns that lead to the mass shootings and crime. If every gun was somehow removed from everyone in the US, the people that would have been inclined to kill people with them would just switch to something else (eg knives) or get guns from elsewhere. Switzerland has high rates of gun ownership, and has much lower rates of gun crime than America, and france has quite strict gun control laws and yet that hasn't stopped the people involved in the recent(ish) attacks from getting their hands on them.

Please feel free to point out what you think is illogical about what I've said.
