Next Year’s Proposed Military Budget Could Buy Every Homeless Person A $1 Million Home

I have a friend that was high level special forces for years that has a very hard time holding a job, though doesn't have PTSD. He would plan and execute complex operations in the field and is responsible for some pretty amazing operations in the ME and Africa.

We've talked through it some, and while his issues are somewhat more complex than I understand, and I of course only know his side, but he has identified two issues that lead to him churning jobs.

The first being shitty middle management being threatened by his ability to organize operations and his belief that things need to be organized and executed right. He struggles when he looks at the whole operation around him, sees all of the inefficiencies and see's how the pieces can could come together so much better. For example, he got into hospital security for a while, and found the whole operation to be entirely insecure and a joke. Just the guise of security. He could have literally revamped their entire operation into a system that would actually work but that type of thing doesn't really go over well with people entrenched in bureaucracy just trying to pull paychecks until retirement.

Second, is his inability to take shit from unintelligent people. In his churning he had to take a bunch of low level, low skill jobs just to pay the bills. Think about your shittiest most condescending boss ever, apply him to low level blue collar jobs. Imagine an uneducated waste of life talking down to someone who literally organized raids on warlords fortifications. He tries to hold his tongue, but just can't.

There are some interesting niches that he could be very high level and successful in, but they generally involve military contractors, tons of travel (he already missed most of his kids lives), and a whole bunch of bullshit he doesn't want to be apart of anymore.

There are some great programs for guys like him, but overall it's a very difficult transition even without PTSD.
