He went beyond just apologizing for disappearing to admitting he has taken on a lot of burden mentally over the last few weeks and handled it poorly. He also said he's learning to delegate all of the things he wants to accomplish (like social issues) to people better positioned to do so.
He basically said his big issue is that he gets caught up with everything happening in the world and handles it poorly, trying to be a leader in his community.
He's probably one of those people who listens to the news and Youtube videos way too much and takes the world way more seriously than it is (the doomsday people). I know some smart people myself who fit into this categroy, especially recently with the pandemic plus the US political nonsense.
But otherwise yes he did directly apologize to his basketball fans and even the media for disappearing.
