Officer injured after hundreds of juveniles cause disturbance in Center City: police

Sorry people who think after school programs would magically stop this shit are delusional. When I interned at a philly school kids would just walk out halfway through the day. Even when security guards or administrators tried to stop them, they would just start screaming and shoving people and until they finally got to leave. You seriously think those kids would attend after school programs?? You can hardly get them to stay in regular school, good luck holding them after hours lol.

Our school would try to push kids to stay during & after school by arranging field trips to places/events like museums, the flower show, etc. Most of the time said trips never got to take place because we needed a certain number of sign-ups to make it happen, yet in our school of hundreds of students only 4 - 6 would ever sign up, making it prohibitively expensive to arrange tickets and transportation.

There are already countless after school programs, rec centers, sports teams, etc. teens can freely attend. Its not a matter of 'having nothing to do'. Some kids just choose not to sign up for these things because trashing center city is decidedly more fun to them.
