Officers' jobs being prioritised over victims' safety, experts say, as more NSW Police charged with domestic violence

It’s not you footing the bill though, it’s like you ordering an $80 lobster eating out with a group when they order $20 meals and then expecting to split the bill at the end.

Most people want to pay lower taxes, not higher taxes, and they want their taxes spend well. There are also critical areas such as aged care which are massively underfunded.

I don’t personally see value in paying lost wages to someone who has committed a DV offence. I also don’t agree that the government should intervene in these issues where the victim does not want to leave or receive support.

The stolen generation situation occurred because people decided what was right and what was wrong for others, the government intervened in family situations because people at the time believed that the children were not safe and being cared for.

Your approach is fairly similar, you are making the extreme one sized fits all decisions that really heavily impact on the situations these families are in based on what you think the outcome should be. When the reality is most of the calls police attend for DV’s don’t result in cessation of relationships due to the victims wanting to continue the relationship.

The key point is that every case is different, support should be offered and available, but you can’t take a one sized fits all approach to things.

I’d personally rather the money funnelled into education in schools / communities regarding general respect for other people especially in relationships, and encourage emotional stability to be a higher priority for people when they are choosing partners.
