Parents who are constantly “at” their kids

I can get behind a lot of what you write here (I'm not the one you were replying to btw) except this part:

What effect does it have on you or your own children personally?

I think about, and even judge, many things that do not affect me personally. It does not affect me personally when I see someone berating a waitress, and yet it still troubles me. I don't know anybody who never thinks to themselves, "That person over there is behaving badly," despite being an unaffected witness. And I don't know anybody who thinks that all parenting methods are equally good.

There is no harm in blowing off steam about behaviors one has seen and disliked. That's what (most of) this thread is.
