Pilot to Pilot podcast episode 74 - Marlon Dayes: 24-Year-Old Delta Pilot

Again. You just don't get.

And for the record, I'm a regional captain and my salary is not "much more than the average person," and I don't get half the month off even if I wanted it. A friend of mine who works HR in tech gets paid a lot more money than me with better benefits and the most risk he will ever have to take in his career is to avoid stapling his hand at work.

It's easy to say someone is acting entitled, but in this profession it's expected that one will need to pay their dues and earn time and experience like everyone else.

So when a 6-7000 hour regional captain with a perfect flying record, LCA, no training failures, 4 year degree with high GPA, volunteer work etc sees a 24 year old kid with a fraction of his experience get hired by a major and then watching the inevitable circlejerk of "you earned it bro, F the haters!" posts...the natural reaction is going to be disdain and cringe.
