Portland police and protestors clash in broad daylight

So you're 1: Assuming these people are becoming homeless immediately? I don't understand what "loose on society" means.... I very much doubt these people are just on the street, that's a massive assumption. 2: Saying eviction is wrong during a pandemic? Why would we not uphold society's standards in times of hardship? People need to be given a extra help in times like these, but there is still a line to be drawn. It's not as if everyone is immediately being evicted, and they're still heavily considering extending all the housing/renter assistance programs enacted for Covid this year.

The point is that THESE people are who we are talking about in the comments, not eviction as a whole. Like I said, I agree with your ideals as a whole, but this exact situation sets a bad example for anyone else that deserves assistance. They completely took advantage of an opportunity to delay eviction, a problem that was standing a year and a half before the pandemic began. And even taking advantage of it (who can blame them, right?) They still failed to work it out.

You're applying these positive, well intended ideals into people who completely took advantage of the system. There has to be a line, it has to be drawn. ESPECIALLY in times of extreme hardship. These are the times when people need to work together to make the world function, and they showed they had no intention of working with anyone. For 2.5 years
