Question: would it make sense to have a mandatory 4 day full-lockdown, Fri-Mon, every month for the next 12 months and allow people to go about their normal lives the rest of the month (wear masks, wash hands)

What’s that got to do with it? The point is at the moment we’re failing to 1) eradicate, 2) contain, 3) maintain standard of living, 4) protect the vulnerable, 5) support the economy, 6) quell unrest. We’re years away from the end of this and the current model is unsustainable. How do you think you’ll feel after another 18 months of not knowing if you can travel/meet people/go out next week.

The virus is not a problem we’re trying to solve, that’s for the vaccine producers. We’re just trying to live with it in a way that does the least possible damage. That was the point of the suggestion; a simple framework with heightened discipline that allows for normality whilst introducing a regular, adaptable, transparent instrument to mitigate spread as necessary.
