Raising the minimum wage just swept in all 4 states

But are they really?

Being close to the holidays I'm still seeing the same old "Holiday/Seasonal hiring" from every major retail store.

Every fast food chain store has there "hiring" signs up.

The jobs aren't going away. They're simplying being altered. For instance, I still speak well with my ex-coworkers from McDonalds where i worked at 5 years back. They've told me that the self-order machines are ideally meant to be introduced by 2020. But here's the kicker, you order your food on a machine, and a person comes and serves your food while you wait. Cashiers = Servers. Your kitchen employees are still there, the drive thru is still there, and even management is still there. No jobs are going away. They simply have a different title.

At my current job, everything is automated, but my sole purpose is to monitor these machines and assure they do not malfunction. In the event that they do, I come in and provide the service and fix the machine.

Machines aren't replacing humans, at least, not any time soon.
