Relationship with Pornography

There's always going to be an element of seediness and darkness to it. I don't think there's any way around it. True, trafficking still takes place but it's now a boyfriend that coerces a girlfriend to go on video. And one of the things often not talked about back in the day was the exploitation and abuse of male pornstars back in the day. They were trafficked too, just like the women. The movie "Boogie Nights" does a fantastic job of showcasing how this worked. A lot of people don't know and still to this day, male pornstars got paid peanuts compared to their female counterparts. I can't remember the numbers but it was like 10% of what a female makes. So they enter into this "occupation" but just to be able to maintain a lifestyle of drugs and alcohol they have to do so many films. It takes its toll on the brain and the body just like it does women. Loss of self-respect and etc. Except unlike women, men have to get and erection and keep it or they aren't going to get paid or an alternate will be called in. And if you got a reputation as an "actor" that can't keep it up, you would lose opportunity and confidence from directors and producers. Eventually, you're out and there are PLENTY of other men will to take a chance on such a great "opportunity." Little do they know that each filming is over many hours with lighting and camera position changes. Or film roll changes and etc. And they have to keep it up and be ready when the cameras start rolling again. When we got into the era of Viagra, now they could just start popping those pills all the time to be able to keep filming and doing it as many times as they can. Again, men have to do 10 films to makes the same pay as a woman doing 1. There are a lot of horror stories all the pharmaceuticals do to the body and doing all that. And you also see in the 90's where the men who were "staring" in the film were also a producer. It was the only way they could make money doing it. It's all really crazy and fascinating.
