Report: San Bernardino Shooter Passed DHS Counterterrorism Vetting

It's weird. I'm watching CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC and there is such a huge difference between their takes on this. CNN and MSNBC keep mentioning that the main shooter could have been radicalized and list all the facts without filtering - that he went to Mecca and Pakistan, contacted people on the watch list, wrote about being religious on his old dating profiles etc. But what they're not doing is drawing any sort of inference whether this makes it a terrorist attack or not. They keep saying it MIGHT be a terrorist attack and that "we don't know their motive". Meanwhile Fox is saying this is an open-and-shut radical Islam terrorism case based on the exact same facts, although the exact target/plans might have changed last minute because of workplace issue or some unknown reason.

A few days ago, the exact opposite was happening with the Planned Parenthood shooting. Fox remain on the fence, saying it might be a mental-health issue while CNN and MSNBC were quick to call it religious-extremism-based domestic terrorism.

With San Bernardino shooting, the right-wing says this is a radical Islamic terrorism issue and left-wing says this is a gun-control issue. To me, it seems both honestly. They bought guns and lots of ammo legally and they were most likely radicalized to commit horrific crimes against humanity based on their religious beliefs. Both sides keep pitting the first two amendments against each other as if one or more important and this incident highlights how difficult it is to resolve the disagreements.

If every non-felonious US citizen should be able to buy guns, how do you stop potential terrorists without criminal backgrounds from doing the same without touching the 2nd Amendment? If every citizen has the right to practice religion and access any material in privacy, how do you identify previously sane and rational people who are now radicalized and planning on committing such terrible acts without taking away 1st and 4th?

Left continues to ignore that ISIS exists and unlike Al Qaeda who wanted Western bases out of ME, ISIS officially wants their sole ideology to the rule world, threatening the very principles that built the Western civilization. Right continues to pretend that lack of mental health and radical Islam are the only two reasons why gun violence happens, completely ignoring the fact that you can order a Bazooka online.

If there was ever a need for a bipartisan bill, this would be it. Come up with a plan to address mass shootings by hitting all the major causes: religion-fueled terrorism, lack of proper mental-health care, and again, the fact that you can buy rocket launchers online.
