The Retrospective Collective: Kirby Super Star

Hey folks! This is the first issue of a monthly project I'm working on that focuses on impactful games from the past. I have a couple of games lined up for the next issues (I pick games that I have played), but always open to suggestions. And of course, open to feedback as well.

To continue the discussion here, I'm kind of disappointed with the new games that Nintendo announced during the Direct earlier this week. I was really hoping that they would bring the series onto the Switch with a brand new game that brought fresh ideas to the table. I feel like Kirby has fallen into a weird state where Nintendo is only willing to recycle gameplay (Robobot was fun, but it still feels the same) or go for quicker cash grabs with the minigames they sell (which they did with the minigames in Triple Deluxe as well). It's a shame because they were really experimental in the past (Kirby Air Ride, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Canvas Curse)

The ideal situation would be if they somehow convinced Sakurai to come back as a director for one game (since he's done with Smash now... right?) to steer the ship into a brand-new territory.

Would love to hear some thoughts about Kirby Super Star and the series as a whole if you have anything to share!
