Russia warns it could cut gas supplies via Nord Stream 1

Bluff? That’s not a bluff. This is going to cause serious damages to households and social care facilities here. Short political history lesson: under chancellor Gerhard Schröder (gas Gerd, likely very similar to Trump as far ad Russian connections go) the substitution of central heating with oil through gas was heavily promoted and subsidized by the German government, hence a lot of family homes (just short of 50 % to date) and social care facilities like elderly care homes still rely on gas for central heating and warm water. Gas imports from Russia accumulate to around 50 % of the overall needed supply. Cutting Russian gas or getting it cut off is going to hurt quite a lot. Changing this on the fly is also financially impossible, even if the supply chains and labor could withstand such a demand, which they can’t.
