I don’t disagree, but at that time a lot of the soldiers listened to orders. They had to follow the law so they could live.

If anyone was to blame for this, it would be Stalin. The soviets did a lot of awful things because they didn’t have much of a choice.

My grandma survived the meat grinder battle of Rzhev, close to modern day Tver, where I grew up. She still tells me that the Russian commanders saw soldiers as disposable beings. And the soldiers had two choices “listen or die.” I hate this new spin russia is trying to put on WWII, yes, a lot of us are still bitter for many people not giving USSR the credit it deserved in winning the war, but altering history is no way to go about it.
