Schumer’s Folly. Democrats are heading toward an epic miscalculation in filibustering Neil Gorsuch.

The devil is often in the details, I haven't heard anything from Betsy DeVos remotely resembling a way to implement the idea of school choice that doesn't greatly increase the advantages that money gives rich students over poor.

As for Gorsuch, I'm on the fence. I don't question his qualifications, although his record seems to reflect a pretty strong corporatist bias. I try not to consider that I don't believe that Trump would nominate anyone he didn't secure promises from.

It doesn't matter anymore if a nominee is qualified, that ship sailed with Merrick Garland. The argument for not voting on Gorsuch, that the president is under FBI investigation, is much better than the argument for not voting on Garland, that the president only had 10 months left in his term.

Also, I don't believe that the GOP will hesitate to eliminate the filibuster. I frankly fully expect the GOP to escalate voter suppression, limit the 1st amendment, and likely entrench gerrymandering to ensure single party rule into the future. I think we may well have witnessed the true beginning of the oligarchy in America.
