[Serious] Redditors: What is the spookiest, most disturbing, or downright unexplainable thing you've ever found in the woods?

When I was quite young my father and I were doing a little bit of exploring in the forest. The track we were driving along was quite rough at points but we just managed to scrape through in a passenger car.

After an hour or two we started climbing uphill pretty rapidly and the track was improving in quality. Soon the forest cleared up and we came upon a strange collection of neat, well kept old houses/shacks.

We had come in along a rough four wheel drive track and knew that geographically we weren't that far away from the nearest towns, so it wasn't all that odd that there was some sort of holiday village.

As we drove closer to the middle of the "village" we saw a car driving away along a very small track running perpendicular to the main track which seemed normal.

The massive piles of wood seemed normal.

The multiple satellite dishes atop some of the buildings didn't seem normal, but hey who doesn't want to watch TV while they're in the forest...

Six ovens lined up on the front porch of one shack... That's odd.

Barrels of chemicals lined up beside the next shack...

After that we kept driving, at the end of the village the track started to descend rapidly downhill toward the river, by the time we got there a big black four wheel drive with heavily tinted windows was blocking the track. We stopped for a moment and the four wheel drive moved out of our way.

We drove over a bridge and followed the track for about a kilometer before it became too narrow to follow. We reversed back up the track and by the time we were back at the river the four wheel drive was no where to be seen.

Now truth be told we probably weren't too far away from the nearest towns, I'm not too sure how the tracks go around there but I do remember we came in from the "back" so to speak.

Logically, the two cars were just two cars who happened to be driving there at the time. The satellites necessary to have any TV/Radio/Phone connection due to the semi-remote location. The barrels of chemicals were probably just diesel and other innocuous things. The ovens... I dunno, maybe they really liked having communal roast dinners.

There's so many separate bits of weirdness though but even if it was something nefarious, what? If they were making drugs why wouldn't they hide their shit better.
