[Serious] Therapists, what is something people are afraid to tell you because they think it's weird, but that you've actually heard a lot of times before?

There are a lot of songs with lyrics like “I hear this music in my head...” I’m not a musician but I wonder how frequently this is actually true for musicians and the rest of us think it’s sort of hyperbole.

Like, I have synesthesia, and when I tell people I see “K” and “R” as red when I think of them (no, I don’t actually see those colors on paper lol) it kinda seems like they think I just decided those letters were those colors, if that makes sense. When really it’s my mind doing it and I’m just here observing.

It sounds like you’re saying that the music is just played to you by your subconscious, not like you’re actively constructing it. And now I’m wondering how many musicians literally meant that, but the rest of us thought they were just making up the music themselves and trying to be romantic.
