The shame of being a woman on reddit.

Yes it’s okay to be frustrated about this. It’s right to be angry about it. We are humans and we try to just go about our lives, then suddenly, out of nowhere there’s always someone, often men but not always, who draw attention to us and our bodies and it’s horrible. It’s like we can just ‘be’ without being an object. Once when I was a terrible depressed and suicidal 17 y/o I was walking home past a house with builders in the front yard, “look at the face on her!” They said in loud voices so I could hear. “ you need to cheer up, try smiling” they said to me. I was just trying to get home... it wasn’t a performance, but they still tried to make it one
