'Slavery is clearly wrong... but not all slave traders were bad'

Is this about Hamilton? It’s about Hamilton isn’t it? Idk but ima use it as an excuse to vent about this

Ok so someone came out with that stuff about Hamilton doing the financials of selling slaves or something at one point. I saw like 100 articles being made about “cancelling Alexander Hamilton” as if this 400 year old founding father is actually a twitter user or some shit

The truth is - everyone during that time was more then likely involved in slavery in one way or the other. And this isn’t cope, it’s just true. Doesn’t matter if they were abolitionist or outright rapist slave owners. The very fact that they were involved in the government, especially cuz Hamilton was treasury, means they dealt with Slave-Produced economic turnover. The thing is this doesn’t matter, who gives a fuck. Even if Hamilton didn’t do financial trades of slaves or whatever he probably still used and profited off of slaves as a lot of the economy was based on slave labor.

Hamilton the musical is not 100% historically accurate even LMM said as such - just because these people in history are factually slave owners or have done disgusting things doesn’t really matter at all. Libs do this thing all the time where they create problems out of nothing almost as if they are trying to shift the focus from real issues. Anyone enjoying Hamilton (the musical) is not bopping to slave owners, they are bopping to fictional versions of these characters that use the setting and place and parody the original story.

Hamilton is not “erasing slavery” from history. Because Hamilton is not a history book - it is a broadway play. I can get into more about how really the whole idea of Hamilton (taking racist white founding fathers and having POC play them) is more of a message towards how society has grown more then anything - but that’s besides the point.

Libs act like the founding fathers matter at all. When in reality, they don’t. People like in the picture above trying to mental gymnastics their way around slavery is not an issue of how we are portraying the founding fathers, but instead an issue of how we are educating and have been educated in the past. Anyone with a brain knows a broadway play isn’t a sub for a history course. Don’t blame modern art for idiotic people, blame the system that isn’t educating us enough.
