Sony was granted a patent to make a tv that will only stop showing a commercial once you stand up and say the brand name out loud.

That honestly isn't enough.

Assume the science for some of this stuff is inaccessible.

Assume there is a long game that is unrecognizable to anyone outside of the industry.

These are facts, not conspiracy. I will say, however, the people who create this stuff honestly suffer a fair amount. Because it is constantly selecting money over doing the right thing for people you don't know. If you stand up against it, you are ostracized, risk litigation, risk your livelihood. The sector likes dividing itself into 'people who program people' and 'people who get programmed'. It is gross exploitation, superiority complexes and rationalized entitlements.

But here's the truth. No one, except the people all the way up top, controls anyone excessively without paying for it. The damage I have seen to individuals health who simply have to shut up and do, it is disgusting. Everyone in the industry is basically an alcoholic.

People in the industry need to actually care about the ethical implications of their work, and this needs to be tolerated, protected, and valued - instead of being dismissed, discouraged, mocked and harasses.

One type of production creates bubbles that are only stable to the individuals that plan the longest games - the types that can escape with golden parachutes when they company goes under. Everyone else is not exempt from an industry collapsing because it did the wrong thing too much. The other actually creates a healthy and loyal consumer base.

If I was running a company, I would think not running it into the ground would be a key motive behind doing everything - every decision, but the people who believe they have blind submission of the populace literally don't know how to see that far. They are stuck in a bubble world comprised entirely of their own methodology, and it blinds them. It happens partially because of every individuals ego resulting from privilege, instead of every individual realizing the only reason they are privileged is because they are willing to turn a blind eye repeatedly to disgusting things. Even though, it legitimately is better to not do these things. That is measurable even in profit. The difference really is company loyalty. The industry is so used to rapid growth and rapid death of products, it seems normal and acceptable to do.

I honestly fight to have hope that not every industry succumbs to the same self destructive temptation of producing information vacuums of which to measure and tests and predict their growth with. The economics coming out of these industries are fundamentally unsound. The industry is largely propped up by lies and deceit. And honestly I think people in the industry are so used to this, they cling to it since it still works, and they are legitimately terrified of creating alternate means to generate revenue.

But it is a bubble. If it is economically unsound because it is dependent on forcing a direction for a consumer base to think in, why does it consider itself invincible to the same energies and intents? It isn't. Either the product is good or these industries are working hard to simply fool themselves for another fiscal quarter.
