Starting sales career at 35!!!

Since you are already at 95 k, you could potentially target specific companies as a BDR with higher income potential so even if you are making lateral pay or a little less starting out, you can get your foot in the door and work to get promoted. I think that may be the best, you could leverage your management experience in lieu of direct selling experience with tech and getting a job like that should be much easier. I will be transparent, getting into a high paying tech sales field role can be highly competitive, depending on the company. I worked as a national accounts ISR for the best team for a very large software company, but had very little direct selling experience due to my specific role supporting major accounts. In a very unboastful way, I am very articulate and very good at interviewing and I interviews everything I had and almost made it among the cream of the crop. I remember once having a sales manager for one of the best/ most competitive tech companies in the world, tell me directly, "I'm going to be honest, you're the underdog in this race. You don't have the same experience as candidates we are considering and would typically hire into this type of role. I feel in some ways you shine above a lot of the more experienced candidates but you have a lot of people to convince here, not just me. It is not just me. This is not going to be easy." I prepped so much for those interviews and was a runner up at the end, but know I was one of their final 3. It was multiple graded interviews by various people and they advance the people that score the highest. It's very hard to beat more experienced candidates in a highly competitive industry. It is no slight to you, but if you're after money, go for a high paying / prestigious company in a more entry sales role. You won't make more off the bat probably but give it a year or two.
