I totally agree with you. A SAHM or SAHW is a financial dependent that the husband has agreed to be responsible for, just like the children are his financial dependents. He claims them all on his tax returns.

The SAHM should take her homemaking and child rearing responsibilities just as seriously as if she were working for an employer. She is working towards providing a healthy home environment and well-adjusted kids. Part of a healthy home environment, however, is a clean home and healthy meals, not fastfood junk unless it is a treat.

The housewife or SAHM is the heart of the house. Just like she makes her friends and relatives feel welcomed, she should do so even more for her husband.

But being a SAHM or SAHW should involve showing respect to the children's father and her husband. If mom doesn't respect her provider this attitude will rub off on the kids and the kids will disrespect their father.

Both spouses should value each other's contribution to the family and work together as a unit.
