Student sues school after failing course

For fucks sakes. Universities have resources for things like this you just have to go and utilize the correct channels. I struggled with bipolar disorder my entire undergraduate career. My teachers helped as much as they could with accommodations, allowing me incompletes, letting me turn assignments in late, and when I was having a difficult time with my sleep schedule, I had a teacher in one of my early morning classes allow me to do an alternate assignment in place of an "attendance grade" and she had someone copy their notes for me. All because at the beginning of the semester I was very open with them and told them I was willing to do everything I could on my end, and if it got to the point that I felt my requests were unfair or ridiculous, I would try again a different semester. After that, sometimes it got to far in the semester so when I got really sick I was able to contact the dean of student affairs who helped me with late withdrawals, medical drops, and she even helped me get my tuitio back a couple of times. I had one teacher who gave me an incomplete two semesters in a row because it was a time I was at my very worst, and told me to come sit in on his summer class and take the class as if I were in it, and whatever I got in it he would put in place of my grade in my former semester. If you want help, teachers are usually there. The dean of student affairs had worked her entire career in education, had a doctorate in educational psychology.....why? Because she wants to help students. Her entire job is to help students. Teachers would rather you be up front at the beginning instead of having a meltdown the day of a test. We have the Americans with Disabilities Act. People love to help those with disabilities achieve great things. My professor gave me a huge hug when I got my diploma because she was so happy for me. What people don't like is feeling like people abuse the system.

I am so grateful to my university for helping me get through the hardest 6 years of my life. I truly am grateful for the professors, on campus counseling centers, and endless resources provided to help me.
