I actually never considered that a different view point could change one's view of Goku.

Zeno doesn't destroy, he erases. When Goku went back to Trunks timeline he saw nothingness. Also, although it was a gag episode I feel like there was some significance to Beerus Hakaing the ghost from Dr. Slump out of existence as well. This, I think, is clear evidence that the other world is also erased meaning Zeno erasing you is greater than death, it's actually erasing.

The idea of no longer existing, no afterlife plays into effect here. Whether you struggle and suffer and get erased, or get erased without knowing it, you still stop existing, and you can't reflect on how it happened, so theoretically it doesn't matter how it happen. Still I'd assume some would like to know they will stop existing even if it make no difference how you spend their last moments.

I think goku giving the universes not only a chance for survival, but a heads up of there possible fate is a blessing and a curse depending on perspective.
