It’s a big part of why Nintendo is so beloved. They’re always trying new things with two of their biggest franchises (Mario / Zelda) and they’re often focusing on the fun and keeping things fresh. The current state of AAA games has made it so Nintendo games, along with games like DMC and Doom Eternal (games that focus on fun, excellent gameplay loops) are a real breath of fresh air.

The recipe for a safe AAA release is a mix of - Open world, third person, action / adventure with stealth, lite RPG mechanics, crafting, story driven. Almost all of the best selling single player PS4 games follow this blueprint and that’s why we see it so often and will probably continue to see it for a long time.
