Sydney anti-lockdown protest organiser jailed for at least three months - According to police, Khallouf was involved in planning an unauthorised rally in Sydney for this weekend

There is a time and place to put your foot down, and protect your liberty. Painful but necessary measures to quell a public health crisis ain't it. Moral duty aside, there's no tactical advantage. People want the pandemic to end, and they want people to stop dying at rates that tower over a typical flu season.

Even the civil rights movements were done at the right place, with the right catalysts, at the right time to maximize their effect (even if they couldn't come soon enough). For a movement to work, it needs public support and they don't have it. Especially with ICUs filling up, Covid deaths on the rise, and the looming flu season just on the horizon.

By choosing the worst time and the worst methods to "stick it to the man", they are effectively shifting public support to more authoritarianism. They're wasting a finite resource now, when it will have no effect, and run the risk of not having enough when our liberty is actually in danger.

These people are their own worst enemy.
