2 different tax agents from different locations and at different times have told me the same information, and one of them he was going through the same circumstances as I was and was told by all his colleagues the same as I had been told. I've also had the ATO mess up my taxes before and when I called them they basically did a "whoopsie sorry you're right you don't owe us $700 we owe you $800 teehee xD" This year as well I went in person and ATO said I owe $600, tax agent helped and this year's return (correctly) I was given $2,000 and they were basically like "yeah sorry heehee the tax agent knows more than us sometimes xP" I calculated myself as well and the tax agents should be correct...
