Thousands of homes in Vancouver have been declared unused and liable for new empty homes tax as part of government attempt to tackle skyrocketing home prices and soaring rents. After introducing 20% tax on foreign buyers, city is continuing to tackle housing affordability.

To be honest.. i heard this story about this guy who had a job and would rent out his whole house, and he would sleep in the boiler room in the basement. Once i heard that i felt like i realized some secret truth which is that all these sales people for the most part see expensive housing as a gimmick, at least the ones who really make money most likely do. And now i just want to live in a car one day hahaha. Not really but i dont see space as that important anymore. Also yeah im perfectly willing to just get the fuck out of the city too. I really dont think im getting the benefits of the city.

I guess the people at the top of any industry are the ones who will try the hardest to sell themselves, and generally the further you go with that the weirder it gets, and the more people are comfortable with lying and bending the truth. idk take smart water for example. Hugely successful product but was just water with sugar and food coloring iirc. Just goes to sometimes the biggest rip offs arent even extravagant things, its just smart water. And because it wasnt some big ticket item, a surprising number of working class people were consuming it and spending money on it. I guess we as a society often think the real money in ripping people off is on luxury items. But yeah even a seemingly middle class apartment.. theyll try to rip you off. i think the real rich peolpe dont even live in the city, and never would, they look at it and think "why would anyone go through all that trouble?" and meanwhile they own entire buildings in the city and live off somewhere with a huge piece of land so big they cant even see anther house/building. Just their house in the middle of the forest. Or nature is surrounding it, anyways. Maybe they live near a beach or god knows. They prob dont ride public transportation like most people do in cities thats for sure. They probably avoid crowds, the very crowds that basically define cities.

What im saying is no one actually likes the cities i think. People just stay cause they were born here and so they dont feel inclined to go to another place.
