"Under Republicans, recessions happen four times as frequently as under Democrats."

"'They' had more opportunity and wealth available to them with a high school diploma than his college educated children..."

Seems like "they" had it easy in your mind. And it was easier to get a job as a young person 30 or 40 years ago, the population was also much smaller and there were tons of middle class jobs that are no longer necessary because of technology increases. 20 years from now our kids are going to hate us because "we" spent so much on entitlements that debt service costs will be well over $1 trillion annually and they'll be paying for our irresponsibility, like a more tame version of how young Greeks feel right now.

I'm a conservative, if you couldn't guess, and it has nothing to do with family values. What I like about the Republican platform is that it allows people to keep a reasonable percentage of what they earn and doesn't try to divide the country into "us versus them" class warfare where the rich are evil and the poor are victims. Wealth isn't a zero sum gain, it can be created and multiplied. My dad was born in a bumfuck mountain town in Kentucky where everyone was dirt poor. According to your line of thought, he should have just accepted that he was a poor person and voted himself into comfort by saying it was the rich people's fault that he was poor. Instead, he graduated valedictorian of his shitty high school and got a college scholarship, and ended up being very successful. GOP supports the American dream that anyone who is capable and willing can be successful. Social mobility is one of the things that makes us great. Obviously some get luckier than others and not everyone who works hard will get rich, but if you fail, at least it won't be the government's fault.

Right now with Bernie no one seems to care what will happen with runaway debt. It's economic suicide. I couldn't care less what his views on abortion or gay marriage are. I just want to be able to help myself when I get out of law school and not be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator so some people will feel less jealous.
