TIFU by blowing off half my leg

Those examples are so fucking different it's INSULTING that you would even think to bring them up in this discussion. Do I have to explain how alcohol and tobacco deaths are different from gun violence? Really? Do I have to do that?

And don't tell me "the difference is they're doing it to themselves."

That IS the point you limpdick. These vices dont purposefully put others in danger. People don't buy alcohol for the express purpose of commit violence. And importantly, when an innocent person IS harmed by one of the things you mentioned, the response isn't then to support "alcohol rights" or "tobacco rights", it's the opposite. When an innocent family dies to a drunk driver, the response is always to warn people to NOT drink and drive. And yet, when there is a shooting, you people advocate for MORE people to buy guns.

Let's address the cause of the issues here instead of patching up the sinking ship. Invest more in education, invest in personal development and resources for those who need it (therapy). Fix the criminal justice system so former criminals can lead a normal life again. Then maybe you won't be so scared of getting shot every day.
