Tis the time for a Samsung EVO 850 Giveaway !

I would love the chance at winning this SSD, here's my story:

I'm in the process of piecing together a PC as a donation for a local nonprofit. I don't want to say the name of the place publicly because I value my anonymity, but I will tell you via PM if you want to know. Anyway, this particular nonprofit is a center for families to go where they can get food, baby food and baby formula, clothes and school supplies for the kids in the family (and sometimes the adults, too), get help with access to other agencies and services, translation services, and more.

A couple of months ago I was there doing some volunteer work with my wife, we were painting some of the rooms with paint and supplies that were donated by a local paint store. This place has a "gaming room" where kids can go to hang out and play games, all donated, while their parents are working with social services, or getting help with other things. In the game room I found a PC - it was an early 2000's eMachine (I think that was the era it was from) on the verge of death. I could hear the hard drive groaning, it was that bad. It's the only PC they have in the lab and I would love to get a PC in there that is capable of at least playing some games. The room already has two Xbox 360s (one donated by me last year), a PS3, and a Wii, all with plenty of games. I took it upon myself to get a gaming PC in there. It definitely isn't going to be top of the line, but I'm hoping by the time I get this thing finished it will be at least on par with a PS4 or Xbone. That shouldn't be too difficult to do.

I've been collecting parts and have essentially everything I need to put together a working PC for them, except a PSU and a discrete GPU, but I think I have a line on a free PSU this weekend that is going to work. I'm personally donating a 500 GB Western Digital Scorpio HDD that came out of my extras box, so the specs right now look like this:

  • Intel i5-2500k Sandy Bridge at 3.3 using stock cooler
  • ASRock Z75 Pro 3 Motherboard
  • 8 GB of Kingston RAM - 1333 mhz. It works though.
  • 500 GB WD Blue HDD (donated by myself)
  • LG DVD/RW drive (donated)
  • Cooler Master Storm Spawn mouse (donated by myself)
  • Logitech wireless keyboard (cheap one)
  • Antec 900 case ( and old used one - I'm probably going to hit it with a can of matte black Rustoleum to make it look better)

So, that's the build for now, all parts that I've gotten donated by my own friends locally (and a couple by me.) It's not a big deal but it is already leaps and bounds beyond the piece of garbage that they have in their now. I really need a discrete GPU to put in there, something like a GTX 750 Ti or in that range would be ideal. One of my buddies says he may have an extra Radeon HD 6950 that we may be able to have to put in there, but I won't know for sure about that one for a few days.

A small SSD for this system would be icing on the cake! It totally isn't necessary, and I'm sure there are people in this thread who need it more than I do, but I thought I would put the story about this build I'm doing down and then hope for the best, because hey...you never know, and if I didn't ask there would be no chance of being selected!
