I took lsd to try to make death less awful

This is a great post. You should consider making a video similar to the MAPS videos so your story can benefit others before they die.

My suggestion doesn't have anything to do with drugs. It's a lot simpler than that. When you breathe, focus on making your exhalation longer and longer. When you die, that's all you have to do. You don't want to go in panic and terror, and the thing to do with your body when you are dying is to focus on your breathing to relax you and help you let go. You can start practicing now so when you die you can breathe well.

I believe dying peacefully is the most profound experience a person can have. I had a near death experience when I was very young. I went out of my body. (Don't be fooled by this, the sensation of leaving your body comes from the links between regions of your brain that produce your map of space and your sense of body shutting down). As the different parts of my self unravelled they weren't replaced with darkness, but an overwhelming sensation of love and a synesthetic brightness. Because your sense of time shuts down too, it feels like eternity. I believe by learning to lengthen our exhalations and let go/relax when we breath as we die, we can die better.

Drugs are a great way to help practice and wrap your mind around it while you know it's coming. Having a plan you feel good about for what to actually do with your mind as it starts to happen is a great way to wrap your body around it while it happens.
